Jesus Asking: You are in the family:
You are in the family:
Romans 8:15-17
New King James Version
For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
Heir–
- Legal standing in a family
- Recognized identity
- A guaranteed inheritance
- Participation in what belongs to the father
You have a legally secured position in God’s family with a guaranteed share in what belongs to Him.
You are in god’s family:
Galatians 3:26-29
26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Beth AB
Father’s house:
- Oldest male in charge-(acts like a king)
In the house:
- Wives
- Children
- Sons
- Daughters-if unmarried
How the Beth Ab works:
The patriarch is in charge and control of money and possessions. He decides how it’s used and he takes care of the whole family and cares for their needs.
The oldest male gets everything from the father, and will care for everyone in the Beth AB.
Those outside the Beth AB:
- Widows
- Orphans
- Lost family members
- Aliens/strangers
These had to be redeemed into the family to the rights of the family.
Galatians 4:7
7 Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
Ephesians 1:7
7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace
The family of God:
Ephesians 2:19-22
19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.
