Think again
Think again
“Your brain gets better at what you repeatedly do, and that can hurt you…or you can get better at having better outcomes by choosing better thinking.”
Dr. Lee Warren
Proverbs 23:7 New King James Version
7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.
“Eat and drink!” he says to you,
But his heart is not with you.
Thoughts:
A thought can be fearful without being prophetic. It can be discouraging without being true. It can be tempting without defining who you are. And it can be persistent without having authority over your life.
7-ways negative thoughts affect us:
- They shape our perception of reality.
- They affect our emotions.
- They influence our physical health.
- They damage relationships.
- They undermine confidence and purpose.
- They can rob us from gratitude and hope.
- They can become habitual patterns.
Renewing your mind:
Romans 12:2
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Renewing– process of making something new in quality.
The emphasis is on becoming new in character or quality, rather than merely restoring something to its previous condition.
Renewing the mind means allowing God to reshape the way we understand reality so that our thoughts, attitudes, and decisions increasingly agree with His truth.
Taking every thought captive:
2 Corinthians 10:4-6
4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.
Keep moving forward:
Philippians 3:13-15
13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
15 Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you.
Practice positive thinking:
Philippians 4:8
8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
Thinking positive:
- I can change my thinking
- I’m enough in Christ
- Mistakes are how I grow
- Not everything I think is true
- My presence matters
- Every day is an opportunity
- Stop saying “why” start saying, “what’s next?”
